How do I play 4 player chess online?

Type your name, hit “Create game” and send the link to three people. The first four people to open it take the seats — the game starts automatically once the fourth player joins.
Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts, no passwords and nothing to install. A browser and the game link are enough.
What happens if a fifth person opens the link?

They join as a spectator: they see the live board, the moves and the game history, but cannot move pieces. A counter in the header shows how many people are watching.
How does 14×14 four-player chess work?

It is a chess variant for four players. The board is cross-shaped and each player has their own army along their own edge. Pieces move by standard chess rules and players take turns in order: red, blue, green, yellow.
Can four of us play on one device?

Yes. The local mode at the bottom of the page puts all four players on one screen — just pass the device around after each move.
Who wins?

Whoever is first to checkmate any one opponent wins. You do not have to beat all three — the first checkmate ends the game. The game does not look after your king: you may leave it in check or move it into danger. If your king is captured you are out and the game ends there and then — whoever took it wins.
